The Software Operations in Enterprise Terrain (SOET)* blog is written by me, Darryl Nelson. I am a lead software engineer actively engaged in the development and integration of enterprise systems. I live in the state of Texas in the USA, married above my station, and the father of three great kids (“The 3 Hellions”).
I subscribe to the generalizing specialist model of software skill building. My technical interests include (in no particular order):
- computer programming
- Java Enterprise Edition (JEE) technologies
- Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD)
- Spring Framework
- Lean/Agile methodologies
- Service-Oriented Architecture (SOA)
- Service-Oriented Front-End Architecture (SOFEA) / Service Oriented UI (SOUI)
- AJAX
- OSGi
- Geographical Information Systems (GIS)
- Python
- Groovy
- Enterprise Integration
- Distributed Sensor Networks (DSNs)
- too many other technologies I don’t have time for.
I am also an avid reader (especially the technology and history genres) and a United States Army veteran. I inherited a fascination with anything with an engine (automobiles, motorcycles, aircraft, scooters, tanks, etc.) from my grandfather.
